Artificial intelligence: "Million-level" talent gap annual salary out of a large number of peers

In the past weekend, artificial intelligence even zoomed in - the robot "Atlas" from Boston Dynamics showed the perfect backflip action; Tencent's news writing robot Dreamwriter wrote a thousand words in 0.5 seconds He wrote 14 drafts in one breath, and also automatically matched pictures and edited videos.

The annual salary of AI graduate students can reach 500,000.

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has pushed the salary of industry talents to an alarming level.

When many college graduates are still cheering for the annual salary of 100,000 yuan, the hot salary of the AI professional graduates has reached 300,000 to 500,000 yuan, and it is likely to rise to 800,000 yuan after three or five years. However, this price is mainly for graduate students.

This is the market that the first financial reporter recently learned at the 19th China International Hi-Tech Fair, Talent and Intelligence Exchange (hereinafter referred to as the “High Talent Fair”). At the talent high-tech fair held in Shenzhen, the annual salary of more than 300,000 yuan abound, but the salary of the AI position is still outstanding, very bright.

A high salary does not mean that job seekers are flocking, and there are very few AI talents who apply to the site on the same day. Many recruiters at the scene said that fresh graduates do not need to pay much attention to find jobs on the spot. Companies will find them through instructors or laboratories early; for those experienced R&D talents, headhunters will also take the initiative to contact them.

Annual salary shows a lot of peers

Artificial intelligence is a strategic technology that leads the future.

At the National "Two Sessions" in March 2017, "Artificial Intelligence" was officially written into the government work report for the first time. The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party pointed out that it is necessary to promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy.

On November 15, the Ministry of Science and Technology held a kick-off meeting for a new generation of artificial intelligence development planning and major science and technology projects. The meeting announced the establishment of a new generation of artificial intelligence development planning promotion office, which consists of 15 departments including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Finance. .

The fiery heat of artificial intelligence can be seen in the talent high-tech fair. At the meeting, many technology-based recruitment companies have set up AI positions, or expanded the AI talent reserve, or hope to find a leader to build an AI team.

The conference was held on November 16th and lasted for two days. It is intended to attract high-end talents. It has screened 53 well-known enterprises and 10 well-known headhunting companies inside and outside the country for on-the-spot recruitment, including Huawei and Huada Gene. Ping An Group, among which state-level high-tech enterprises account for as much as 70%.

"This time we plan to recruit 40 AI R&D personnel, mainly from computer graduates." Liu Mingzhuo, vice president of Coolpad Group Co., Ltd., told the First Financial Reporter, "We are giving first-class salary treatment." The company's standards. For example, the annual salary of recent graduates is 300,000 to 500,000 yuan; in addition, we are listed companies, and will also come up with options to motivate talent."

The above graduates refer to masters and doctors. These fresh “baked” graduates will get a very good salary after working for a few years.

Take Coolpad as an example. Most of their R&D personnel are self-cultivated, and the training time is 3~5 years. After three or five years, the salary can get more than 800,000 yuan. "A very good person can get higher. We have an engineer who has worked in Silicon Valley and have several years of industry experience. Now the annual salary is more than 1.5 million yuan." Liu Mingzhuo said.

Li Shangyu, director of business development for “Headhunting” Anshida Consulting, also believes that this is a common level in the industry. He told the First Financial Reporter that Internet companies such as BAT are one of the main players in recruiting AI talents, mainly for algorithms.

These Internet companies are vying for AI cutting-edge talent with global competitors. According to Goldman Sachs’ previous statistics, Baidu’s annual salary for AI talents in machine learning is $126,000. If you count the annual dividends and benefits, you will have as much as $220,000 (about 1.46 million yuan); with Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Apple and Facebook are the third largest international giants, second only to Facebook's $273,000 and Microsoft's $244,000.

Li Shangyu added that there are two types of companies that are hiring AI talents: one is a robot company, has a physical product, recruits natural language and other positions; the second is a company that specializes in algorithms and provides software knowledge.

"Million-level" talent gap

Although the recruitment meeting at the day was crowded, there were not many job seekers who came to apply for AI. Many technology companies were crowded with job seekers in other positions.

Mr. Zhang, in his 30s, is quite rare among young job seekers. On the morning of the 16th, he strolled to the booth of a technology company and sat down with the recruiter to discuss the AI position. After about ten minutes, he left with frustration. He laughed at the reporter himself. He is a bachelor's degree and has no relevant work experience. It may be that recruiters dislike him.

Most of the business people who accepted the first financial interview said that AI professionals are not good recruits. They usually contact the relevant universities and tutors half a year in advance to screen candidates for dizziness.

There are so many porridges, the fresh graduates of AI research are naturally looking for work, and there is no need to rush at the job fair; and those experienced AI R&D talents will take the initiative to find the door.

Unlike the United States, where AI originated, there are fewer colleges offering artificial intelligence courses in China, and the teaching system is just getting started. The quantity and quality of talent supply cannot keep up with demand.
