Google began to limit mobile phone manufacturers to modify the Android operating system

According to BusinessWeek, Google has begun restricting mobile phone makers from modifying its Android operating system and tightening control over the kinds of third-party deals that manufacturers want to sign (in order to add other services to the Android platform).

"Business Week" reported that Google has informed the relevant mobile phone manufacturers, the company will refuse to customize mobile phone access to the latest Android operating system updates, this confirmed that the previous tablet PCs will be banned to run Android2.0 version upgrade to the future Operating system 3.0 optimized edition reports.

The report also pointed out that companies affected by Google’s enhanced control over its Android platform include LG Electronics, Toshiba, Samsung, and Facebook. The industry is rumored that Facebook is trying to develop its own Android device.

Google recently said that the company will not release the latest version of the source code for the Honeycomb operating system (Honey combOS), claiming that this is because it is not yet ready, but it is trying to make certain Tablet PC manufacturers take the lead in using this version. The move seems to be to create a two-tiered market structure in which Google-approved devices first perform operating system upgrades and then publish their open source versions to the public several months later.

A source familiar with the matter said that it was clear that these were enough for industry players to complain to the US Department of Justice. "Business Week" quoted some senior executives as saying that Google also gave preferential treatment to chip and device manufacturers who adhered to its rules, and let them take the initiative in the competition to bring Android products to market.

However, the business model of the Google Android operating system is to fetch traffic for its services (such services are usually tied to smart phones) and to receive revenue from the advertising of these services. As handset manufacturers and mobile networks produce and support Android phones, they increasingly sign agreements with other companies (such as Vezizon's agreement with Microsoft's Bing search engine), leading Google to miss out on its operating system investment opportunities.
