NXP introduced the industry's first AISG transceiver with dual-channel modem

Shanghai, China, April 23, 2013 -NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) has recently launched a breakthrough programmable AISG transceiver series for wireless base stations and antenna equipment (ALD), such as towers Top Amplifier (TMA) and Remote Motorized Tilt (RET) antenna. The new product line includes the industry ’s first fully integrated dual-modem AISG transceiver, as well as the first AISG system solution that integrates an ARM® Cortex ™ -M3 processor and two AISG modems. NXP ’s AISG transceiver is DSP-based and programmable. It also provides significant flexibility. It can be easily changed during development, manufacturing, and even on-site installation. Although many manufacturers currently use a single microcontroller and multiple discrete components to provide AISG's on-off keying (OOK) modulation and demodulation functions, NXP's transceivers have a very high level of integration that helps In order to reduce the total number of components, circuit board space and cost, it can also introduce advanced functions.

Remote electric tilt (RET) can dynamically adjust the base station antenna beam to obtain the best network coverage, and is becoming a standard feature of wireless base station antennas. The infrastructure supplier can control the remote electric tilt by embedding the AISG transceiver in the antenna itself, which can eliminate the extra Smart Bias-T (Smart-Bias-T) and RS485 Cable connected to the antenna, which improves the reliability and reduces the emission The cost of Taiwan. NXP's dual-modem AISG equipment is particularly suitable for antenna equipment (ALD) with multiple feeder cables, such as TMA and multi-band antennas. In addition, the AISG transceiver can be used as part of a larger framework to implement remote "on-site scanning" to monitor the failure of the mobile tower wiring connection (for details, please see a white paper overview released by NXP today). These tests are not only expensive, but also require inefficient base station climbing and visual inspection. Rick Dumont, director of global marketing for AISG products at NXP Semiconductors, said: "Although the antenna interface standard working group protocol has taken an important step in the right direction, there is still no way to effectively collect mobile tower information remotely. With 3G With the development of LTE, wireless base stations are becoming more and more complex, and the number of antennas and equipment from different manufacturers will also increase significantly, which brings maintenance costs and headaches to both network operators and equipment manufacturers. Our new AISG transceiver Provides a compact and cost-effective solution for multi-channel AISG communication between tower-mounted antenna equipment (ALD) and base stations, optimizing the performance of base station sites. At the same time, we opened the door and significantly increased the number of components Interoperability, eventually it is possible to realize more remote monitoring, diagnosis and commissioning of more and more extensive equipment on the tower. "

AISG transceiver with multi-carrier function

The single-modem ASC3011 and the dual-modem ASC3012 are low-power, highly integrated AISG modems in a small package of HVQFN64. These modems can interface with each other through a two-wire or three-wire UART, or with an RS485 transceiver, and the parameters of the modem can be programmed through an I2C interface. Up to 4 NXP AISG transceivers (providing up to 8 AISG OOK modems) can be connected to a single I 2 C bus at the same time. According to the needs of each base station site, each modem can be individually programmed.

In addition to the default 2.176 MHz AISG carrier frequency, all NXP AISG transceivers also support 4.352 MHz and 6.528 MHz carrier frequencies. This provides the possibility of multiplexing 3 AISG channels on the same RF feeder cable. The integrated receiver bandpass filter effectively blocks any interference signals outside the baseband. In addition to the sensitivity of the standard AISG sensitivity receiver, users can set to "high" and "super high" levels. The transmitter can provide up to 10 dBm RF feeder cable, and can integrate a 50 ohm receiver and transmitter terminal. The transceiver complies with AISG1: version 1.1, AISG version 2.0.

AISG controller with embedded ARM Cortex-M3

The ASC3101 with a single modem and the ASC3112 with a dual modem are optimized AISG controllers, which include a 94 MHz ARM Cortex-M3 processor that integrates all peripheral interfaces required by the AISG modem and control antenna equipment. These peripherals include 6 PWM outputs to drive the RET antenna motor, as well as some general-purpose ADC / DACs for measurement and control functions.

The AISG controller integrated with embedded ARM processor ships with a complete software development kit (SDK), which includes basic control of the AISG protocol stack and power management, which helps all NXP AISG customers and promotes device interoperability. Each controller provides up to 256KB of embedded flash memory and 16 KB of SRAM to run application software. In addition, there is a 32 kHz crystal real-time clock and 44 configurable GPIOs. The DSP-based modem is also easy to upgrade to a higher data transmission rate, in line with future agreements. A programmable modem can optimize receiver sensitivity based on signal strength.

Shipping

ASC3101, ASC3112, ASC3011 and ASC3012 have provided samples and major customers, and began mass production at the end of March 2013.
