Summary:
The SN6501 is a monolithic oscillator/power-driver specifically designed to isolate small form factor, isolated power supplies in interface applications. It drives a thin, center-tapped transformer primary from a 3.3 V or 5 V direct current (DC) power supply. Depending on the turns ratio of the transformer, the secondary side of the transformer can be wound to provide any isolation voltage.
The SN6501 contains an oscillator followed by a gate driver circuit that provides a compensated output signal to drive the ground reference N-channel power switch. This internal logic ensures first turn-after and operation between the two switches.
The SN6501 is available in a small, small form factor transistor (SOT) 23-5 package and is rated for operation from –40°C to 125°C.
Features for push-pull drives for small transformers Single 3.3 V or 5 V power supply plateau current drive:
5 V power supply: 350 mA (max)
3.3 V power supply: 150 mA (max)
Low ripple on the ballast output allows small output capacitors in a small 5-lead SOT23 package
Applications for CAN, RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, SPI,
I2C, isolated interface power supply for low-power LAN industrial automation process control medical equipment
