The naked eye 3D TV volume is only a "dream"

The naked eye 3D TV volume is only a "dream" If the signal that CES gave us last year was "3D is coming," then the signal that CES gave us this year is "3D is everywhere." After one year of tempering, 3D technology has gradually penetrated into televisions, cameras, computers, MP5s, cameras, and printers. However, at the end of the 2011 CES, the reporter discovered that the variety of applications of 3D technology did not point us to a clear direction, but left us with two suspense: Who is the winner of the war between polarized and shuttered technology? When is naked eye 3D technology popular?

The first is the conflict between polarized and active technologies. Just before the opening of CES, LG Display’s president, Gui Yingshou, made a remark in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China Electronics News. “Active shutter technology will be replaced by polarized technology within one year.” Samsung, the mainstay of push-shutter technology, refused to lose. Its relevant person in charge said: “The 3D TV with polarizing film will lead to a decrease in resolution and will not be reliable. No matter if it is 2D or 3D, it will not reduce the resolution. The technology with fewer perspectives wins.” So, CES 2011 kicked off in the LGD and Samsung’s “Slobber”.

At this exhibition, two major technology camps have used their actions to prove their views. LG showed a polarizing 3D TV, which uses glass-based polarizing technology (glass-type and film-type polarizing technology); Samsung, Sony and other manufacturers have launched large-size shutter 3D TV products.

However, the reporter found a number of "credits" that will soon be won by polarized technology at this CES. First, Vizio, the main TV maker in the North American market, gave up shutter-type technology and showed a polarized 3D TV. The glasses provided with the TV do not require the use of batteries. Second, Samsung, the leader of the main shutter technology, has shaken its heart and launched the "RDZ 3D" product developed in cooperation with RealD Corporation of the United States. In simple terms, "RDZ 3D" is a built-in Zscreen function that generates circular polarized light in LCD TVs. It can use the same lightweight polarized glasses as the theater. Compared with LG's products, this product does not reduce the vertical resolution.

From the current point of view, the global polarized technology camp is continuously expanding, and the joining of AUO, LGD, Samsung, and Vizio will enable it to quickly seize market share in 2011.

Followed by the development of naked eye 3D technology. From the current CES, naked eye 3D technology has become the focus of attention of all parties, Sony, Sharp, Toshiba and other companies have launched related products. However, in the eyes of reporters, the launch of naked-eye 3D technology not only shows the world the latest display technology, but also reflects the frustration of Japanese companies.

First, last year, sales of only 3.5 million 3D TVs in the world caused TV companies to lose confidence in 3D technology. They must introduce more "powerful" products this year to enhance 3D's influence.

Second, there are some companies that are "turbulent." At this year's CES, there are three manufacturers of large-size naked-eye 3D TV products, namely Sony, LG and Toshiba. However, there are insiders said: "Sony exhibited naked eye 3D products are stimulated by Toshiba, the development team are all red eye. Before CES, technical staff has been staying up late 'axis rotation'." It is understood that Sony had in the internal At the "2011 International CES," there were many discussions about naked-eye 3D displays, but they finally made the judgment: "If it is not shown, '3D Sony' will not be a prestige." According to Sony insiders, it was hard to use the field. The 3D business was launched in a sequential manner, and the development of naked-eye 3D was purely "unrest."

In fact, naked-eye 3D technology is not new to businesses and consumers. At present, there are two types of naked-eye 3D display terminals in the world, one is a raster 3D display terminal, and the key technology thereof is a parallax barrier screen. In China, the major TV companies Skyworth, Konka, Changhong, TCL, Hisense, and Haier have developed prototypes of 3D LCD TVs or 3D plasma TVs using this type of technology. The other category is lenticular 3D products whose key technology is the lens screen. Currently, TCL has officially launched a 3D LCD TV using this technology in the domestic market, but this product is only used in Shenzhen and Guangzhou airports.

The reason why the technology is mature but cannot be promoted is because the naked eye 3D technology cannot exceed the cost and content of "two big mountains."

First, the larger the naked-eye TV size, the higher the cost, and the cost is a geometric progression: First, the monitor using the naked-eye 3D technology must be an industrial display, and the manufacturing process is very different from the ordinary liquid crystal display; the second is the 3D TV. Although the film is easy to manufacture, it is necessary to ensure that the "point-to-point" film has great technical problems. At present, there is no way to enter the industrial mass production stage, so the time cost for producing TV is higher.

Secondly, the production cost of the naked-eye 3D movie is very high. Because the viewers from different perspectives should see the stereoscopic image, the cost of one frame of the naked-eye 3D image is at least 8 times that of the ordinary image. In addition, the data volume of the naked-eye 3D image is several times that of the normal image, and the requirements for the storage device and the transmission device are also quite high.
