As LED lighting is one of the main focuses of the future development of Philips Green Energy Industry, for the future LED lighting planning, Philips expects that its revenue will reach 50% of its lighting business by 2015 and will further increase to 75% by 2020.
In order to achieve the above objectives, Philips will invest 1 billion euros (about 1.29 billion US dollars) in green energy product research and development, and signed a cross-licensing contract with the US LED manufacturer Cree to speed up its expansion in the LED lighting market.
