The Internet of Things is no longer a new concept. Its popular applications of wearable and smart home products are gradually entering our lives. Semiconductor chips and Internet giants are using big data, artificial intelligence, and deep learning card IoT. As a world-renowned semiconductor manufacturer, how does Roma respond to the wave of Internet of Things?
From August 24th to 26th, 2016, world-renowned semiconductor manufacturer Rom appeared at ELEXCON2016 Shenzhen International Electronics Fair. The electronic enthusiast network will also take you through the ROHM booth to discover the Internet of Things of electronic components.

ROHM's booth is located in the prominent position of Hall 2, and Zhang Jialu, deputy director of management department of Roma Semiconductor, said: "Rome participates in the Shenzhen International Electronics Show every year. The annual position is basically the same, but this year's exhibition time is advanced from November. In August, the ROHM booth has five key exhibition areas, including loT (Internet of Things), analog power supplies, power components, automotive electronics and micro components."

Approaching the Rom booth, first of all, it was attracted by the embarrassing "organist music team". The organ doll was developed by Roma and the robot company YUKAI Engineering Inc., as long as the baton was swung, 5~6 of the original free activities. The small robots will line up in a team and start playing their own individual scales.
Through the illustration, we can understand that Roma provides infrared LED, RGB LED, geomagnetic sensor, Sub GHz band wireless communication, reflective optical sensor, wireless charging lamp device for the organ doll, and the controller is by Roma Sub GHz. Band wireless communication, low power microcontroller, acceleration sensor.
Advantageous power devices and analog power products
Entering the Roma booth, Xiao Bian first focused on ROHM's superior power devices and analog power supplies. At the power device booth, ROHM exhibited "all-SiC" power modules, including the new BSM300D12P2E001 and BSM180D12P3C007, which can contribute to the high efficiency and miniaturization of the device with low switching power consumption characteristics.
The switching loss of the SiC power module is reduced by 77%. Compared with the IGBT product, the loss is reduced by 22% in the 5KHZ high-speed switching operation, and the loss is reduced by 60% in the 30KHZ. The product also features high-speed recovery and eliminates component degradation caused by parasitic diode energization.

Compared with IGBTs, SiC modules can withstand high temperatures and can withstand higher temperatures, but the disadvantage is that the current price is still relatively high. According to ROHM's technical staff: "Compared with 2010, the price of SiC products has dropped by 40%. Roma hopes to reduce the price to twice the IGBT by 2018." In addition, Rom also showed 600V second-generation IGBT-IPM, AC/DC converter control IC with built-in SiC-MOSFET.
In terms of analog power, ROHM exhibited a USB-PD control IC that has received much attention in the market. According to different requirements, ROHM can provide 5V, 10V, 15V and 20V products.

The wireless charging device equipped with the world's first power-Qi-certified ROHM wireless charging and receiving control IC also appeared in the ROHM booth. In addition to supporting the WPC Qi medium power specification, the product also has standard configuration foreign object detection function, Qi and PMA. Standards can be powered, DC/DC conversion efficiency can reach 84%, and the current common product conversion rate is between 60% and 70%.

In addition, there are HEVs that support 48V input and achieve a minimum on-time of 20ns in the world of 2MHz, and step-down DC/DC converters for industrial equipment. The product can be applied to in-vehicle equipment, industrial equipment, communication infrastructure and other fields.
