Arm recently announced the launch of the new Mbed Cloud platform. Whether it's a restricted device or a feature-rich IoT device, you can get an integrated IoT device management solution with this new platform to meet your needs for simplicity, security, and control, and accelerate deployment.
Many forward-thinking companies are beginning to apply the Internet of Things as a new way to explore and analyze data, thereby improving operational efficiency, optimizing products, and improving user experience. However, the transition from the exploration phase to the actual operation requires higher levels of IoT device security capabilities, networking capabilities, and configuration than current cloud computing and data centers.
Accelerating the implementation of IoT capabilities to maximize the potential of data is an important issue, and the new Mbed Cloud platform launched by Arm IoT Services Group has become the focus of discussion in the industry:
Mbed Cloud support for on-premise devices
Today's cloud services have enabled many companies to manage the growing number of IoT devices, but some companies are unable to connect to the public cloud because of security or legal issues. To address this issue, Mbed Cloud now supports both public and private environments. Arm is embarking on extending the capabilities of Mbed Cloud to enable customers to build private clouds within the corporate firewall of their data centers. In addition to integrating legacy hardware, this highly flexible solution allows users to use external IaaS (Infrastructure as a soluTIon) from different vendors.
Provide IoT capabilities for restricted devices
Currently, millions of devices that need to connect to the Internet of Things may be limited due to cost issues, lack of code space, and processing power. However, its limited computing resources can still meet IP network requirements and support the security functions required by large networks. To solve this problem, Arm's Mbed Cloud will support related features in the near future - enabling low-computing devices to use a variety of commonly used IoT protocol stacks, including conveyor racks and blood glucose meters in this case. Single-function sensor applications such as liquid control valves can also transmit or receive data and perform simple calculations.
Mbed OS now supports a variety of IoT modules and narrowband Internet of Things
Arm's latest version of the Mbed OS operating system will support emerging cellular, low-power, wide-range NB-IoT standards (such as CAT-NB1 and CAT-M1), enabling IoT connectivity for individual devices without location restrictions.
The latest version of Mbed OS will also support related modules to provide designers of IoT devices with the necessary support for a wide range of IoT communication protocols including Bluetooth, WiFi, and LoRa.
